During Session Twelve:

This session can either be used as a one-week break before beginning the next wave (starting with Session-One) or it can be used as an informal retreat session where Team Partners get together to discuss overall achievements or progress in their lives. They can also discuss challenges and ask their Team Partners for support in turning them into opportunities. This session can also be used to enroll others into taking the course, by exposing them to the Team Partners and having open discussions and testimonials.

Team Partners:

Each week, you will pair up with someone on your Empowerment Team (a different person each week, until you have partnered with each of them, at which point you will start back with the first person, and so on). You will settle on the best time to contact each other and make certain you have each other’s correct phone number. (There is a place to write the name and contact information of your Team Members (Team Information Sheet) at the end of this introduction and in our Supplemental Workbook. You will then commit to calling each other within three to four days after your weekly meetings. If you have an uneven number of members on your Team, one of you will take part in a three-way call. If one of the Team Members is out of town, it would be appropriate for that person to make the call and bare the expense of the long distance call. The purpose of this call is to provide further support and accountability for each individual on the Team.

During these brief weekly conversations you will:

  1. Ask if they’ve taken on their assignments and commitments for the week. Ask how they are feeling about their efforts so far (or lack of effort). If they are concerned about a lack of effort, offer to go through the ‘Accountability Review’ sheet with them.
  2. If you have both read the upcoming week’s lesson, you might wish to briefly discuss the messages and how the impact in your life.
  3. You will confirm when and where you believe the up-coming Session will be held. If there is to be a special event or activity at the session, you might discuss your individual responsibilities in preparation for the event.

Empowerment Partners:

In addition to the members of your Empowerment Team, you will enroll six individuals from elsewhere in your life: friends, family members, co-workers, protégés, or if you chose even complete strangers. We call these individuals your Empowerment Partners, and you are their Empowermentors. When you meet with potential Empowerment Partners to request their participation, you may wish to tell them that you would like to contribute to their life by sharing what you learn in this program. It will be your responsibility to contact them once per week, either separately or all at once in a group. You will then teach them what you've learned in that week's lesson. You may use the weekly Epiphanies of Empowerment as a reminder of what was covered.

It may help you to enroll your Empowerment Partners if you follow these steps:

  1. Tell them about the class you are taking and why you are taking it (what you want to gain from the course, as expressed in Exercise 3 of this introduction).
  2. Ask if they would be willing to support you in your goals by:

    1. Allowing you to call them once a week to summarize what you learned in the course that week, so you can better learn it and more effectively communicate with each other.
    2. Telling them about your assignments, and asking that they hold you accountable in taking on these assignments. (Teach them the ‘Accountability Review’).

Tell them you wish to contribute to their life as well by sharing the principles you learn in this course. You might also wish to further explain the course to them by letting them listen to your Intro/Orientation audiotape. We don't permit participants to make copies of the Being Your BEST tape, but we do allow (and even encourage) you to copy and distribute the Introduction/Orientation audiotape.
